Golfers: note that many of the positive reviews of this golf course is about the using the clubhouse for parties. IMHO, any serious golfer shouldn't care less about this. So this factor, which has nothing to do about golf, is definitely inflating the reviews of this establishment.
My review is only about the golf course and its operations. While the clubhouse and immediate area may be nice looking, the rest of the course is in relatively bad shape, particularly the fairways. The fairways are ratty, with brown areas, bald spots and weeds. Some of the areas in front of the greens are even muddy. What's with that? This is supposed to be in the Mojave Desert!
The course layout is less than ideal in a number of spots and has what could be considered playable areas blocked off to protect wildlife areas. It's great for the wildlife; but not so much for golfers who can't keep their balls in in the fairway, which applies to the overwhelming majority of weekend hackers. Plus, the sand in the traps is hard-packed; so you'd better not use a wedge with a lot of bounce on it. Otherwise, you may be skulling them out of the bunkers.
The other downside is that some of their employees, in particular, one of their cart guys seriously needs an attitude adjustment or should be reassigned to a job where communicating or interacting with other intelligent life forms is not a requirement. You may have noted some other reviews mentioning problems with this establishment's employees involved in its golf course operations.
They offer "free" lunch (i.e., a sandwich and chips) as part of their green fees; but they apparently try to make some of this cost up by charging you an arm and leg for drinks.
Maybe I'll come back here to attend a wedding reception or to admire the wildlife; but I don't think I'll ever be coming back here to golf, particularly when there are so many other inexpensive and better alternatives for hitting the links in Sin City.
