Despite what my stars are telling you, if you have not been to Broadacres and happen to be a fan of intense people-watching, discount toiletries, party snaps (yes, the firecrackers), Hispanic snacks and Tejano music (Who isn't?), then head to Broadacres pronto. However, if you are shopping for a lamp, save your dollar and go to Lamps Plus. I guess what I am trying to tell you is that in terms of an experience, Broadacres delivers, but in terms of shopping, I am not sold. I was expecting more diversity in products and more vintage/antique finds, but for the most part, Broadacres features boots, clothing, blankets, tools, snacks, and potential pets. I was in search of a lamp and some artistic accents for my abode. I did not see one single lamp, and the closest thing to artistic accents was an old Wham! album, which could have framed up nicely, but I passed, leaving the wonders of "Everything She Wants" on vinyl to be discovered by some deserving child. Wow, that's a good song. I had to dial it up online to listen. [I am now grooving.] There were also a lot of snap firecrackers. Kids were setting those things off at a rate of one per 30 seconds, so if you have an aversion to loud popping noises, this place might drive you insane. I was in love with all of the restaurants, not that I ate at them, but they were these really cute structures, and cute is a big bonus. We did grab some tasty pinto beans from the BBQ place, and the meat smelled pretty delicious. I was fascinated by the rotisserie chickens (see picture). So, if it is a beautiful day, and I have lost my phone charger, I would probably head over to Broadacres again, as I saw plenty of spare phone chargers for sale, but I probably won't make it a regular visit to see what's new, as I suspect it will be the same socks and pots they had last week. Still, if you have not been, go see what you might be missing.
