Sometimes I dream about Sky Blue Sky. That's how good it is. I've been 6-12 times since I discovered it a year ago. That's a lot for me, given my proximity, student budget, and the fact that when I'm around on the weekends I'm usually hankering for brunch.
The smell and taste of the fresh bread, the grill marks, the dope ingredients, the staff, hell, even the names of the sandwiches (almost exclusively named after Wilco songs, albeit one). One time it took them a long time to get our sandwiches to us, so they gave us a free salad. That's great service, exactly the kind I like to give to others myself. Another time, the server "I'm the man who loves you .... and here's your sandwich" and made me laugh when I needed a good one. They almost always seem to brighten my day when I go.
I've been working my way through the sandwiches, but so far my favourites are Wishful Thinking and Heavy Metal Drummer.
Tip: Hey Chicken, Kingpin, and Say You Miss Me let you add 3 extra ingredients at no additional cost - choose from avocado, roasted red peppers, jalapeño, pickles, bacon, banana peppers, tomato, sautéed onions or mushrooms. I always take the banana peppers because I find them really flavourful.
