Just stopped in while walking about old downtown Monroe this Saturday morning (you should try this some time, it's becoming a lovely downtown) and got my son 2 donuts of the almost-sold-out selection of what remained at 11:30 (not much, they are popular enough that he was fully sold out by noon). My son just wolfed one down and is demanding the second (nope, not interested in my 4 yo re-enacting scenes from the Excorcist). I took a tiny bite of it to try it and rarely have I ever been so frustrated by my need to be gluten free, BECAUSE THIS DONUT WAS SO DARN TASTY. I wish I could eat one. Or a dozen. I always loved KK donuts and these are light and airy like those, but not some weird chemical mix of sugar and embalming fluid like KK. Real ingredients including real pork lard they fry in. My only suggestion/request: can they figure out how to make a convincing gluten free donut? If they do I will likely gain 15 lbs by Christmas, so maybe don't. Get up early Saturday, go pay this nice man a visit and buy a dozen to surprise your family with when they wake up. Or buy a dozen for your office- everyone will love you.
