I used to live in St. Louis and the Krispy Kreme restaurants there made their glazed donuts fresh in the store. I loved being able to go inside and actually watch the pale ring of dough fry up golden brown before sliding under the glaze waterfall. That's not what you get in Phoenix. I've been to three different Krispy Kreme locations in Phoenix and I've gotten the exact same product each time. My donuts have been old, stale, and greasy from being dipped in grease a second time just so that they can keep the "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign burning all day long. I've only been to each location once because it just isn't worth the disappointment. The donuts are also smaller because I don't think they are allowed to rise like they are at a real Krispy Kreme establishment. People that don't know the difference may find this offensive but if you've ever had a fresh KK donut, you know exactly what I'm talking about. My advice is to skip all Phoenix Krispy Kreme locations and just opt for a grocery store version. You'll be getting the same thing for less but the grocery store version will be slightly fresher.
