Soul Gastrolounge now has emotional value to me. It's about to get really sappy, sorry in advance.
My boyfriend and I went to Soul Gastrolounge on our first real date, March of 2016. Everything was SEAMLESS. Everything WORKED. Our service was great, server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The ambience was cool and casual, the lighting was perfect. The music and the style was trendy but not super stuck up. The perfect environment for any date night.
Now the food, the most important part of any restaurant review on Yelp. To put it into perspective, this is my favorite restaurant in Charlotte and one of my fave in the US, period. My personal fave are the sashimi tuna tacos and the ceviche. Sooooo yummy! I've tried a bunch of other things on the menu and there has not been one single thing I haven't liked. It's Tapas style and there's something on the menu for every taste I think. Drinks: they're strong, so be careful. I couldn't handle more than 2, these bartenders are generous with the alcohol.
Also, my bf went to eat here alone on his birthday once while I was unfortunately out of town for work. I called the restaurant and asked if they'd let me buy him a drink and dessert and they cooperated in helping me surprise him and let me pay with my card. Pulled it off perfectly. Almost 2 years later we are now a happy couple and Soul Gastrolounge still provides the perfect setting for date night and still delivers on the great food and service. Thank you Soul for orchestrating the perfect first evening for us. This is my favorite restaurant in Charlotte and one of my fave in the U.S. An absolute MUST HAVE while in Queen City.
