Tucked in the corner of this plaza, Red at 28th is a hidden bar/hookah lounge where you can have a drink, relax, and people watch. The drinks are reasonably priced and it isn't very loud. There are televisions that are visible if you're sitting at the bar, but this is far from a sports bar. There are several flavors of hookah, $10 before 8:00. No more than $20 afterwards. The waitresses are attentive. The problem is figuring out who works there, as there is no uniform, name tag, or commonality that signifies an employee. I understand the hipster vibe they're going for, but a wristband or something would be very helpful. There are no fancy drinks here with foam or puréed anything, mostly just juice and liquor. Nothing wrong with keeping it simple. Just managing your expectations. Last, but not least, they do not serve food here, but you can bring it in from the diner next door or Amelie's. Because I like low key spots where you can come as you are, I enjoy Red at 28th.
