My mom, daughter and I arrived at 6:30 and the restaurant was basically bare. (The ambiance is kind of weird. My daughter wasn't feeling the print on the wall.) One would think with the lack of patrons would allow for the server to make you feel relaxed and take her time to explain things. NOT, I had to ask about the featured dishes and she never told us her name. We had questions about items on the menu that weren't explained to us because our server kept walking away. She was very inattentive & seemed annoyed at our inquisitive requests.
We ordered the shrimp tempura, to start, which was just, ok. Then we ordered the featured sushi roll, torched tuna. My mom, who's not a big fan of sushi really liked the featured dish & asked the price because she was interested in ordering another. She quoted $19. Why wouldn't she warn us? The waitress that is. The most expensive sushi on the menu was $16.9.
I was disappointed with the service and my appetite was ruined. I had some confusion with the Groupon I was using, the manager came over & clarified matters and we order the Chang Mai Cauliflower which was delicious.
Between the poor service & just decent food, I probably won't be hastening back there. However, the happy hour from 5-7 and ALL drinks are half off, maybe the one thing that pulls me in. I got the Orient Express, it was delicious. My mom's drink was pretty good too.
I miss Tamari. The service and food at PAN doesn't hold a light to Tamari. For those of us spoiled by Tamari, this restaurant is a slight disappointment.
