The ladies' reviewed the evolution of Holt Renfrew's location in Calgary so I figure it's my turn to chip in from a male perspective. :-) No doubt that the store is visually appealing and gives the shopper a sense of openness and exclusivity with the 'boutiques in a store' concept similar to Saks Fifth Avenue in the US. You have your luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, and even Hermes. I find the boutique setup helps to section off the sometime chaotic scenes one would experience at HR (especially when there's a sale on). For the men shopping at HR though, I have to say that there are much better mens wear shops in Calgary such as Harry Rosen and O'Connors though I don't think Holt is meant to be a destination shop for men anyway. Being a fan of Thomas Pink dress shirts, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they are now being carried by Holt even though the pricing is rather steep. And I mean steep when I can buy the same shirt at the Thomas Pink Las Vegas location for substantially less. All-in-all, the new Holt provides what it always have to the high end luxury goods market in Calgary and is definitely a great way to burn a month's salary! :-)
