My parents and sister would not tell us where we were dining after our wedding. The limo dropped us off at their hotel (The Four Seasons, which oddly enough is situated atop The Mandalay Bay) so we could play with our dog for a little and open a few presents. Soon after, my sister led the way to Mix, on the 64th floor of The Mandalay. Between the superlative view, the glam decor, and Alain Ducasse as the chef, we knew we were in for a treat.
Our waiter, who bore a strong resemblance to Macklemore was friendly and described every item on the menu with gusto. The five of us split a salad and the shrimp cocktail for our appetizers, and were impressed with the flavor and artful presentation. I had the lobster for my entree which was served in a curry that was inspired by tikka masala. Not only did a I receive a large, succulent, tender portion of my favorite crustacean but the coconut rice it came with was extraordinary.
For dessert, we had a small gluten-free (my mom and sister have celiac disease) wedding cake from a local specialty bakery, but the restaurant had no problem with my family bringing it in.
As a treat, our waiter gave us five wristbands so we could go to the lounge with no cover charge, and watch the 7/4 fireworks. My parents and sister opted out, but Mike and I decided to check it out. I found the lounge to be as impressive as the restaurant, and we had a stellar vantage point.
I would highly recommend this place, especially to people celebrating an extra-special occasion. It was the perfect way to celebrate our wedding.
