First time visit. I came early in morning 6am. Filled out information and gave ID and social security card for verification. Facility was clean and very active. Did some easy tests and answered questions, in all visit took me about 3 hours. Phlembotist was a real nice person, I am uncomfortable with needles and honestly I didn't really notice being sticked. She was awesome, kind and professional. Compensation was 50 for my donation, which is for 5 visits then $20 for 1st donation of week and 40 for 2nd donation of week. 2 donations a week seems like a lot to me. My donation is 825 ml, so basically picture a liter bottle. Over the hour of donation you are filling this bottle. It can be freaky to look at it. I will not donate for 20 because I feel this does not fairly compensate me for my time, risks ( almost a liter of plasma, needles in veins, etc) and mental discomforts, 825 ml is alot coming out of my body! I do like the fact I am directly helping people. Compensation is through paycard. PAYCARD SYSTEM IS TERRIBLE! I donate to create a savings for the future, the card will not allow you to withdraw funds with out excessive fees ( 1.50 atm fee for card and 3.00 for chase). This system does not work like a work paycard where you can give it to a bank teller and they can give you cash or deposit funds. Called card and they said these fees are unavoidable. If you use for purchases you will avoid fees. I recommend try donating once at least, if it seems right for you maybe do more. As for me, I am undecided if I will go again.
