The DoubleTree in Scottsdale is a very nice hotel - a great bang for the buck. The hotel grounds are gorgeous; I actually spent one morning running around taking pictures because it was so pretty. Rooms are nice, beds are super comfortable, showers have good water pressure, and there's a mini fridge for any goodies you buy. Speaking of which, the hotel store is incredibly reasonably priced. We actually noticed that some items were cheaper than what you'd pay at a regular store in San Francisco. Mind = blown. Hotel shops normally gouge the heck out of you. Pool was perfect temp! I rarely go into pools because they're usually freezing, but this one was just right. Cold enough that it provided relief from the scorching hot AZ weather, and warm enough that I dipped more than a couple toes in -- I fully submerged! Even with the holiday, we never had trouble finding lounge chairs at the pool. I was initially concerned about that, but it wasn't an issue at all. I was a bit disappointed that breakfast wasn't included, but the Starbucks cafe more than made up for that; we were perfectly content eating there each morning. Not to mention, the woman working every day during our trip was LOVELY. I wish I remembered her name, but she was so sweet. By the second day, she started to get our order down, and it was automatic every day thereafter. Almost everyone at the hotel was nice. Room service was our only bad experience; our order got lost in the night, and we had to call looking for it. When it finally arrived an hour and half late, one of the two dishes was wrong. Ouch :-( hangry became super hangry. Oh, and shower amenities weren't always restocked. All in all, I'd go back. I had such a great time here!
