Holy Mary mother of God this was good.
So good I unabashedly consumed about a weekend's worth of calories in one sitting but we were like...oh spring rolls...mmm good! Pho ga (chicken) mmm sooo light and tender! Bun with pork and grilled shrimp...oh holy hell so marvelously flavorful! Cafe su da...just set a pillow for me right here in the restaurant and I'll pass out from the deliciousness of this slow drip coffee delight.
And I would possibly feel comfortable enough to lay my head down in this place, because it is clean and inviting. The restaurant itself is quite tiny with no more than 20 tables and minimalistically decorated in muted tones, has a water sculpture on the wall, and nurtures a cozy feeling by keeping the lighting rather dim on the interior.
We were actually on our way to Anise down on Warner & Dobson but spied this instead. And I am a bit torn. The prices here are a bit better than Anise. But Anise has a bit more of a delicate flavorful herb pho broth. But Pho Ao Sen does a damn good proper Vietnamese coffee...
...I'm going to have such a miserable time increasing my taste-testing at both venues, I don't know that I will be able to stand it. What a horrible dilemma to have: two fantastic Vietnamese restaurants to choose from within a few mile radius in the East Valley on any given day. Oh woe is gluttonous me.
