We are local to Phoenix and have been going to El Encanto and El Encanto II for years, though in the last few years we have stopped going as frequently because the service isn't what it used to be and El Encanto II tends to have hoards of unruly children running amok in the restaurant and on the patio. They may be somebody's little darlings, but they aren't ours and the restaurant should take care to make sure all paying customers have a pleasant dining experience. We've literally had to ask to be re-seated because somebody else's dimpled darlings were running in circles around our table. The parent's, seated at the table next to ours, were aware and did nothing. After 30 minutes of the parents ignoring the behavior and the waitstaff looking helpless, we asked for a new table. Apparently parents with unruly children are welcome to bring their children in for a night of babysitting, because children running around the restaurant happens more often than not. But.....that is not why I'm writing this one-star review. We took some out-of-town folks to El Encanto last night. The place was not as busy as I have seen. In fact there was nobody waiting to be seated when we left about 6:30 last night, so being busy isn't even an excuse. What happened is that they gave us somebody else's credit card. My husband, not realizing, used the card today before he realized it was not his. He called the restaurant and apparently the owner of the other card is not aware, because he has not called in.......at least that is the story we were told. As a result, we have had to cancel our one credit card and hope that the new one arrives before the holiday, as we have plans (or had plans anyway) to go out of town. My husband spoke to the manager, who gave him a lighthearted "we're sorry for your inconvenience." My husband had to "suggest" to him that he take his name and number in event that the owner of the other credit card calls in. They are truly "real sorry for our inconvenience!" They have offered no assistance to make this right or fix their mistake. I'm sorry, but this is INEXCUSABLE! It is careless and lackadaisacal and very reflective of the decline in service we have seen over the years.
