Another fun Fremont Street Experience Area Hotel and Casino. Located at #1 Main Street Las Vegas. The first time I came to Las Vegas way before the Fremont Street Experience was even a thought the place was called the Union Plaza.
In the early 1900's the Plaza site was the location of the first train station in Vegas. It was named Union Plaza because of the Union Pacific rail station on the site. Before the Desert Wind train route stopped in May of 1997, Amtrak had its station and ticket windows connected to the hotel making it the only train station in the US located in a casino.
The inside of the hotel and casino have gone through some well needed renovations and the place is nice. It has about 1,033 rooms and suites, an 80,000 square foot gaming floor, one of the larger in the Fremont Street Experience area and a 25,000 foot event space. The famous glass dome is now the home to Oscars Steakhouse. There is a food court here to with a McDonalds, Subway, Pop Up Pizza, Hash House, Brightside, and a Taco joint.
Room rates are super cheap during the week and about double on weekends but even double this place is a great bargain. The rooms are large, clean and nice. Not spectacular but very nice. You'll get a great bargain here and it's right across the street from the Fremont Street Experience.
This is another gem worth looking into.
