I bought a priceline.com deal during labor day weekend. $34 a day for an economy car, when the other big car rental places were charging $70+. I knew the office wasn't at the airport parking garage, but I was expecting signs to help me go to get picked up. A few airport employees did not know about this car rental place. I spent at least 15 minutes trying to find out how to even get picked up, then another 15 mintues trying to find the monorail train to go 2 stops to Viscount station and then use a small phone station tucked away at the bottom of a stairwell to call PAYLESS to come pick me up. So I finally arrive at PAYLESS over 2 hours after I've landed. They have a mandatory $500 deposit that they will refund. All of the rules were explained by Southasians. Some spoke better english than others. My guy had a thicker accent, so it was a little rough trying to piece together why we had to drop a deposit...at this point I got really nervous but I've already invested a lot of time and did feel like going back to the airport. So I signed my soul away (so much regret!). I waited another 15 or so minutes until they got my car ready. I made sure to check the fuel levels were accurate and the car was in good condition. The GPS I rented seemed to work ok, but the settings were screwy at first. The voice navigation was muted and the unit would stop giving directions a couple minutes away from the destination. luckily I figured out how to get to my destination and my GF reworked the settings and it worked fine after that. That was $12/day to rent, but I'm from the US so I had no options. The car was fine the whole trip. Hyundai Accent. GPS was helpful. Returning the car took a while as I waited in line to return the keys and also to be picked up to return to the airport. I paid the final balance, $210 bucks for 4 days, including $48 for GPS. Not bad. But I paid for it in time lost and peace of mind. I will watch vigilantly for my $500 deposit to be refunded. If you don't see an update, than you can assume it came back. There will be hell to pay if I DON"T!
