I really wanted to like this bar, and I did like it enough that I'll probably be back when looking for a dim corner for a drink in the area, but also, it was pretty disappointing. I used to go to this venue to see shows when it was ZooBizarre and without even trying it had more dark, dank magik mojo than this overly self-aware bar does now. I really liked our bartender, flamboyant moustache and all, I found him kind and eager to do a good job with the fancy cocktails, but the cocktails were not good. They started out sweet and out of balance and ended up watery, drowned in way too much ice. I wanted this new bar in my area to be world class, mixing on par with cocktails in the rest of the world. The wine was fine. The faux stone rounded ceilings are fine and kitch, and the vaguely medieval decor is arright. I think the guys behind this series of bars probably mean well, but in this case I'd love to see the touch of some actual witches involved in the design and menu.
