As far as movie theaters go, Eau Claire Market Cineplex is neither here nor there. The theaters themselves are fine, if unspectacular. The seats are comfortable enough, the cupholders are convenient, and the level of cleanliness is about what you'd expect in any big theater. Prices are reasonable, and I appreciate that they don't seem to have the sound turned up to deafening levels. But I have to give low marks to this theater for combining the concessions counter with the ticket sales. I have never been to this theater when the ticket booth was actually open. And waiting in line for tickets at the concession stand is not a good solution. Concession orders take a lot longer to process than ticket sales. Meanwhile the movie is starting. Worse than that, I get the heebies and the jeebies watching the people at the counter handle money and then put their hands on your food, then money, then food, and so forth. They're not wearing gloves, and there's pretty much no way for them to scoop popcorn and fill the bags without the popcorn making contact their hands. This is just a bad way to do ticket sales and food sales. How does this not violate health codes?
