I have been coming to Healing Hearts for just over six years since my daughter was born. My 2yo son is also a patient now. I'm reading other reviews (the bad ones) and I have not had bad experiences with this practice. My daughter started off with Dr. McKenna, but soon after she was born she couldn't get in to see her and ended up with Dr. Stevenson. We really liked her and have seen her ever since. In the 6 yrs we've been coming here, we've seen Doctors McKenna, Stevenson, Romero, Keane, Wilcock and Nurse Practitioners Nikki and Debbie. NP Nikki is great. I really like her. She asks a lot of questions, and is helpful with concerns you might have.
In the past couple of months, both my kids have been sick with one thing or another and have had to call and get same day or next day appointments. I have had no issues getting in right away. Only 1 time we waited more than I was comfortable with in the waiting room to be called back to a room (about 30 min). My daughter had a fever and ear pain. We also waited more than usual in the exam room before a doc (Dr. Keane) came in to see her and the visit was lightening fast. She actually had an ear infection and was given a script right away. That was really the only time I was frustrated with the wait, and the rushed doc visit.
We've also seen NP Debbie. She is ok. I don't really get the warm and fuzzies from her so whenever possible I ask to see someone else. I feel like she is quick to diagnose ear infections when there might not be one and give meds unnecessarily. My son had an experience like this. He was given a strong antibiotic by her when my gut told me he didn't have infection. 3 days later after having raging diarrhea, I stopped giving him the med, and he was fine. We saw her one other time for my daughter and again, I didn't get a positive vibe from the appointment with her. She's not awful, just not for us.
Dr. Stevenson in the other had is great. She knows my kids, she's kind, friendly, very informative and works well with my requests and wishes as a parent. It's hard to see her if u try to make same day appt because she works different days at either Chandler or Gilbert, which is why we've mostly seen Nikki lately.
Again, my overall experiences with this practice have been positive.
