My brother and I both had our eyes done on the same day (both of us were in the -4.75 area for our prescriptions) so neither one of us could chicken out! We had to have PRK surgery as both of us had "thin corneas" apparently, so does the majority of the North Hills, as everybody else that day was getting the same surgery (PRK vs Lasik). The procedure itself is a piece of cake! You are given Zanax before the surgery and one after to help you sleep. As I am not a napped I spent the rest of the day up and about. The PRK procedure is done and over with and under five minutes, from the time you walk into the room to the time you walk out! There is ZERO pain during the procedure, and I mean ZERO. The numbing drops they place in the eye work that well. The recovery other hand, is a real pain in the butt! The The day of the surgery, very little discomfort, the day after the surgery also not bad. Two days later it felt like somebody poured glass into your eyes, and this discomfort continued for the next 5 days. Our vision kind of stinks over the next 2 weeks, but as soon as you're done taking the steroid drops your vision begins to dramatically improve every day. We literally went from being blind as a bat to having 20/15 vision over the next 1.5 months. Overall even though there was discomfort after the procedure I would do this again a hundred times over given that I can now wake up and see the world! It really is amazing!! I had a Groupon deal and had both eyes done for $1,499 and bought the "lifetime corrections plan" (there are requirements with this plan that you MUST follow to keep your warranty valid, so ask to read those before you agree to it first) for an additional $1000, this brought my total to $2,500. Which is 5 years worth of glasses and contacts for me. It really is amazing how well I can see now and as I stated before it is the best money I have ever spent!
