Civana is so recently refurbished and reborn, it almost seems unfair to post a review this soon. I will be generous with four stars because it feels like the Civana team is on the right track, although they still have a ways to go to fine-tune the guest experience and achieve the luxury spa ranking to which it aspires.
Kudos to Lucas in Terras and Johne in Cafe Meto who both exemplified the excellent service ethic essential for this high caliber of property.
Note to mgmt: there is NOTHING better than TRAINING to instill the service ethic which so many young people working today have never experienced themselves. Train bussers in Terras to not stack piles of dishes in their arms as they clear tables; perhaps greet arriving guests with a cool beverage/snack; train front desk staff to be outgoing and gracious by anticipating needs - perhaps create a hitlist of items to review with the guest upon check-in (resort fee items included, where to park, fitness center, restaurant, wi-fi, is there express checkout?, etc...so I don't have remember to ask for every detail I need to know to find my way around the property - remember, I've been traveling for hours and I am exhausted).
Additional minor appointments to the room would be lovely: the bathroom floor is hard and cold and begs for soft rugs in front of the sinks; the aspect ratio of the TV setting was incorrect and as a result, the frame around the TV image was distorted (I was too tired to fix it myself); room artwork is minimal and exceptionally bland.
The overall setting and tone of Civana is beautiful and serene. I look forward to returning in the months ahead to find the Civana guest experience stepped up to five star excellence (again, note to mgmt: TRAINING!)
