Cartwright's serves up a great meal. Is it the best I have ever had for the price? No. The environment is what I would call upscale cowboy. Maybe even refined rustic. It is a good spot in the Carefree/Cave Creek area. There is a nice bar with a surprisingly decent bourbon selection. Many of the wines that they carry are noteworthy too. We had a good meal. My husband ordered the NY strip and I had the filet. Both were cooked well and presented well, but for the price, we feel that we have had much better meals elsewhere. The carrot cake dessert was good...but didn't live up to the hype. I guess that is the drawback for us...the menu has great verbiage to describe the food, but we just felt that it wasn't all that it was illustrated to be with the price that was attached. No gripes about the service. Our waitress was great. This is a place that we are glad that we tried, but it isn't necessarily on our "must go again" list. If we did go back, I would be inclined to stick with a burger and beer at the bar.
