I can't comment on other locations, but at this location the customer service is as bad as it gets. Tried to bait and switch us from a compact to an economy car telling us a Chevy Spark was a compact car. While at this location, we called the 800 customer service and they confirmed the Spark was an economy car (on speaker phone and audible to everyone in the room) and I also pulled up the car classification page on Hertz.com, which clearly lists the Chevy Spark as an economy car - still they insisted it was a compact car. Incredible. We ended up walking out of a 36 day rental (nearly $1000) over that dispute. And it was the manager (Shawn) that we were dealing with. She couldn't have cared less. At one point in time I believed that Hertz was the gold standard for car rental dealers, but those days are long gone. I've used all the major companies in South Scottsdale and highly recommend the Budget/Avis down the street. It's far better customer service with a much larger fleet of vehicles and competitive rates. We ended driving down the street got approximately the same rate and a much better car and were out the door in 10 minutes.
