I've always loved this place.... But my most recent visit just wasn't up to par. The "hostess" greeted us at the door on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and we say that we're just interested in popping up to the patio for drinks. She snarkily states "well, if you're not eating then we may not have a table available for you". First off, the patio was not even half full with over a dozen empty tables. Secondly, the $25 pitchers of sangria are likely much more profitable than selling food.... And I can drink more than I can eat. Finally, if you're the damned hostess, just smile and look pretty while welcoming us warmly and bring us to a table - aren't you supposed to know how many tables are available. Just a horrible way to be greeted at what used to be one of my preferred king west spots. All because of one tart of an idiotic employee. Smarten up Valdez and realize you're in the hospitality business.
