Don't get me wrong, this hotel is fairly average and starting to be a bit dated. It would probably be a 3 star hotel maximum, if it wasn't for the outstanding location. Located in the heart of Old Montreal, you can step out of the hotel to a vibrant historical, shopping, and nightlife district. It's within walking distance to modern shopping areas and tourist attractions. It's also located on a small sidestreet, so very quiet at night (despite the bustle of Old Montreal below). The hotel itself is fine - comfortable and clean, but not luxurious. The room I had was quiet and quite large. It is a 'suite' in that the room had a living room next to the bedroom. The living room contained a couch, desk, and kitchenette (with sink, microwave, and mini-bar fridge). However, there was no barrier/door between the living room and the sleeping area. The bed was comfortable, with nice plush pillows. The bedding was a bit sparse, and old. The air conditioning was LOUD (an older window unit - there is no central air in this older hotel). The bathroom was fine, but the fixtures were becoming dated and old. I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, and enjoyed my time. The front-desk staff and housekeeping were helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was included with the room, and was a continental breakfast including toast, bread, croissants, eggs, turkey bacon, sausage, cereal, fruits, and coffee. It was quite tasty (although started to get a bit boring after 6 days). The coffee in the room and breakfast kind of sucked. :) The worst part of my stay was the wifi - very, very slow. Considering this was a business trip, it became difficult to work at peak times, and I had to leave to go to a nearby Starbucks. The hotel fitness centre was also very sparse. A couple of treadmills, a couple of elliptical machines, a bike, a bench, with a few free-weights. I didn't use the pool. Overall, I would certainly stay here again, just for the location. It was comfortable and enjoyable.
