We were looking to see petroglyphs and this trail hit the nail on the head! Two path options allow you to take the high or the low road. Each has its positives so we took the full loop for comparison. The low road has light rock scrambling toward the gallery of petroglyphs. I found these to require a little extra hands on action. Altitude change is very gradual and the path itself is mostly flat wash area. The high road we took downward. If taking this upward it gains in height quickly. The rocky terrain would be a bit more difficult than the low road for the novice however requires no hands on scrambling. The petroglyphs themselves were amazing! Hundreds are present in the gallery area telling so many stories of those which left them!! It is an awesome sight you will want to allow yourself the time to soak in if you are interested in history. Hiking back toward parking at dark was a bit more difficult as signage marking path is small and somewhat hidden. Suggest to take a light if you begin this hike in the afternoon just in case!!
