You know how you're not supposed to go grocery shopping when you're hungry? Well, don't go to the Summerhill LCBO when you're thirsty: you will want to buy everything. Seriously. Consider yourself warned. This might be my happy place. The Summerhill LCBO is a beautiful building, clean, calm (with the exception of the night before a long weekend), and it boasts a favourable staff-to-shopper ratio. Needing a special gift for a 30th birthday, I had a staff member spend close to an hour with me going over the various options for unique gifts (we settled on a 30 year old bottle of port). To throw out some more positives: there's ample parking 'round the side, a good layout that categorizes wine by region, and (please note upcoming caps) A TASTING ROOM. Yep. Game on, liver. I had a visitor this weekend and we went to the Summerhill LCBO as a destination. We then impulse-purchased cake-flavoured vodka. But that's a story for another site. Yelp note: big ups to the free LCBO Food & Drink magazine that you can snag at various locations. A great resource to help convince you that there are things to do with your booze beyond pouring it straight.
