My boyfriend and I went to L'Express for our anniversary. Unfortunately, I had hyped it up to a point where we were both slightly disappointed. I had gone before, and remember adoring the ambience, the service and the food. We ordered the mini oysters as an entree and both almost spat them out into our napkins. The oysters tasted and smelled awful! The main dishes were good, I had the "onglet de boeuf au beurre d'échalottes" and my boyfriend ordered the "confit de canard." We both finished our main dishes. The service was fine, nothing over the top. We did end up pouring our own wine a few times, but that doesn't bother me much. Overall, the restaurant isn't BAD, but nothing compared to what's new and now expected in Montreal's food scene.
