The ambiance at Halcyon is a 10! Excellent indoor and outdoor seating, walls of windows, and charming views of Tryon St. (Charlotte's museum row). The interior is tastefully decorated with live edge thick wooden tables and a visible kitchen. Halycon uses a farm to table approach resulting in ingredients which are fresh and flavorful. Sauces are excellent, meats cooked to perfection, and a very interesting cocktail and appetizer menu (unique!). Halcyon is a bit on the pricey side and service is slow with an abundance of youthful apparently inexperienced waitstaff. But, the chefs are hitting the mark and the location and accompanying views cannot be beat if you're enjoying a day at Mint Uptown, Gantt Center, or Bechler. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're visiting Charlotte. Try the pork belly sandwich complete with fried green tomato and pimento cheese - so, so good!
