I stayed at the Westin hotel with my boyfriend.. after reading a few yelp reviews, it seemed somewhat promising. There were so iffy's but, I thought I'd give this hotel a shot. I actually loved it!
Living in Las Vegas and visiting the famous strip every few weeks or months, you hear a lot of the rustle and bustle it has to offer. It can also be a bit pricey to stay at one of the bigger hotels, and a lot of the times they don't offer you any specials or rates that come along with staying at the hotel.
The Westin hotel is a 15-20 minute drive away from the Las Vegas strip(depending on the type of traffic and such), Westin is located in Lake Las Vegas and it is definitely quieter there as oppose to the big strip. It was nice to here the quiet once in awhile. I really enjoyed that. Westin also offers special rates if you want to book a room there! I'm a local, so I looked at local rates and it wasn't pricey at all. We also had a $20 room credit as well. Along with booking the room, they let you use the paddle boats and kayaks, free of charge! That's a really nice touch :) Everyone at the Westin was also very friendly and they always manage to give you a smile.
As for the room, we booked a poolside view room. It was nice and clean. The bed was very heavenly and soft, I could have slept there all day. It was just the right amount of space in the room for my boyfriend and I. The view of the pool was very nice as well, in the morning we had our complimentary coffee and enjoyed the pool view. While relaxing on the nice leather chair they provide.
The bathroom was a regular bathroom, even though it did say heavenly bed and bath.. we thought the bathroom would have a nice soaking tub or something, but it was just a small regular shower, I think that was my only disappointment about the room. The little lotions and soap smell wonderful too though! :)
Pool was wonderful, it was relaxing and quiet. You didn't hear a lot of noise, and you could just soak all afternoon. They have an adult pool and a children's pool. The adult pool was a bit small, but it does its purpose. Swimming and relaxing, it also has a deep end if that's what you like. The children's pool also provides a nice slide. We used that once or twice. I really enjoyed it.
The only reason it has 4 stars, is because the restaurants in the hotel itself can be a bit overpriced and if you want actual food, you either have to bring your own or you have to drive a little bit to find an albertons or mcdonalds. We went out for a drive just to get food, because after swimming, we were famished!
Overall, if you want a nice, quiet, getaway from the Las Vegas strip, Lake Las Vegas is a go to for me! It's a little vacation away from home :) Will stay here again.
