YES!!! And YAS :) I finally visited La Borincana after a Nigerian client from work recommended this store to me way back last Fall. Walking in here reminded me of being back home in Nigeria or even back in Ecuador. The look and feel of the store reminds me of living abroad. Even the music being played while I was inside was African music. I came to buy Garri which is well known by Nigerians and West Africans. I ended up getting Milo as well which is a chocolate drink that I grew up with while living in Nigeria. I also bought Plantain Chips and Ginger Tea. If I had more time, I probably would have spent a much longer time here because they have so many items from Africa and South America. There is a frozen foods section at the back of the store where you can get meats and even wine. The store aisle have labels to tell you what country certain items are from which I thought was helpful. I spoke with the owner for quite a bit. His name is Ricky and he is from Puerto Rico. He said that some of the food items in the store are brought from New York or Chicago where there are lots of Immigrants. He has been in business for 24 years now (it will be 24 years this March he said) and he would live to expand. Business is booming! By chatting with him, I could tell that he has a real passion for his job. He employs immigrants which is awesome and he is involved with different local groups around town. By the way, he was really helpful in describing to be where to find things in the store and what items were in stock. Prices - it is a bit expensive. Layout - everything is cramped inside and I'm sure the owner would love a new location but the shop works well as it is now. I can't wait to come back! Reviewed - Monday, 26 February 2018.
