I think Beckett's table is overrated food-wise (though we had great service). The best thing is the grilled cheese starter with red pepper soup for dipping - I give that five stars. The vegetable chopped salad was tasteless and a waste of time (mostly a pile of dry - but fresh - chopped romaine). I ordered the green chili pork stew and it was sugary sweet, which is an insult to green chili pork stew everywhere (and really all stew). I normally accept good chefs' creative takes on dishes, however this just was bizarre and not good. I sent it back and they graciously took it off the bill without question. I ordered the burger which was good (I wouldn't drive there expressly for it), but the fries were disappointing. Other people in my party liked the smoked pork chop. Bacon stuffing was dry and underwhelming, brussel sprouts starter was okay but like another reviewer said, would be more decadent if roasted more. If it weren't for the glowing reviews I perhaps would have had less expectations, but how can a locally celebrated chef serve fries that bad, salad that boring and tasteless, and stew that sweet? I have to give it a "meh."
