The MGM Grand is a great place to visit. An even better place to party. But a lousy place to stay. Booked 5 nights. Checked out after 1.
Huge disappointment. Check in line was 2 hours. Told by bellman to drop off bags and come back in two hours and it would be gone. Came back in 2 hours and told check in line was now 3 hours. Asserted my dissatisfaction and told I "should have known" before I booked the wait was very long at the MGM Grand.
However due to unique business circumstances it was imperative I get to my room as fast as possible. I further confronted them about the situation. When that did not work I then raised my voice to the hotel employees. I started cursing and making a scene. I continued to raise my voice. The entire line started starting at me. That got their attention and they immediately moved me to the platinum line for fast check in.
My room is literally a mile walk from lobby at the farthest end of the hotel. Cheap inadequate insulation means you can hear everyone's conversations on both sides of the room and many doors down in the hall. Internet didn't work. Fought with staff for hours before it worked. Console didn't work. Ethernet line didn't work. Constant noise from street. Ugly bathroom with ugly marble and a small tub. Staff explained they installed "green" shower heads to "save water" (in corporate speak = save money) so there is wimpy water pressure in shower.
Fighting with front desk all night. Huge dips in bed. Banged shin on bed foundation. Dangerous edges on bed with marks from drunk people banging shins. Woke up at 3am to mooing in my room. Realized it was just two old fat people having sex next door. "Forced" to hear every drunken disgusting detail (no sound insulation). Last but not least - there were com stains dripping off the corner the bed foundation. How disgusting! I took photographic evidence. . .
And THAT is what I got for $300/night.
I gave them a piece of my mind and checked out as fast as possible the next day. I then spent the next four nights at LUXOR in an amazing room with Jacuzzi overlooking the strip. I will NEVER stay at the MGM Grand again!
