Had low power issues with newly purchased 2007 Sprinter van with Mercedes-Benz 2500 diesel while in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tried to get the local Sprinter service to see us before returning to San Diego. He couldn't sqeeze us in for an analysis for a week. We decided to drive home anyway but look for a good repair facility enroute using Yelp.
We found Advantage Imports in Phoenix where our daughter lives. Emo said he would take us in as soon as we arrived. Limping along for 2300 miles via El Paso due to low power we arrived after 3 very long driving days. IT WAS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT!
Emo put the van through his tests and quickly determined it was the resonator off the turbo, using a novel smoke test. I then asked him to replace the 5 glow plugs as one was showing a trouble code. No problem. Even scraped out carbon buildup. He said there were several other neglected items such as fuel filter, v-belt and pulleys. He took time to show and explain every recommended action. I realized I had found a gem of a repair facility and had him perform oil change, diesel fuel filter replacement and brake flush.
This shop took three days to complete everything and even threw in an engine steam clean! The van easily passed strict California emissions tests.
The bill came in 60-75% lower than I would have been charged elsewhere. Emo and his team are true masters of their trade and and are very trustworthy. Could not be more pleased. To emphasize, I will return to this shop from San Diego for ALL my maintenance and repair needs in the future! It will be worth the trip!
