Well I Can Cross This Off My Bucket List! A Charlotte native that has lived within 5 miles of this place for all of my life of 58 years l have always been intrigued by Sir Edmond Halley's brew pub. Well I'm no longer intrigued, and I'm no longer chomping at the bit to hurry back. My wife and I were looking for Midwood Smokehouse but it has yet to open, so I pulled into a parking space near the entrance and away we went. Upon arrival it's like going into the basement of your house when the light bulbs are burned out. Not very large but a decent sized bar greets you to your right, and a row of tables to your left, with a few in-between. I'm hard pressed to describe as intimate. We were seated on the left side row two tables down from a sleeping patron. At this point I'm not sure if he is drunk and passed out or just tired, but our presence didn't awaken him. The waitress was prompt and brought us a menu almost immediately. I am the former representative of the old British company Lucas, and I told my spouse, look they have a Lucas refrigerator, because the water had no ice! I decided on having a Ruben with a wedge salad and my wife had the fish and chips. The Ruben was fine with fresh bread but was a little skimpy on the ingredients, and the wife's fish and chips was presentable with one large piece of Code and ample fries. The fish was a little greasy and my wife was a little disappointed, so we switched plates after each ate about half. The meal for both of us, valued in today's market should have been about $20, but addressing this establishment as Sir, extracts a $7.50 premium. I can get a better Ruben from Jason's Deli for about the same price, but the Fish and Chips can be obtained from Captain D'S for over 50% less. Someone has described the personally of the waitress as like seaweed, which is a little harsh but not too far from the truth. Granted I'm not coming here to drink so after a few pints of Stout beer, I'm sure my review would be more complimentary, but sober it is what it is! Enter at your own risk!
