Cocina Real does not douse their entrees with cheese. If that is what you are looking for, you should go to Dos Reales. Please note that sometimes what I want is a meal doused in cheese and that's when I know to keep heading north on Prospect. For the days that I just want tasty Mexican that I don't feel guilty about after, I come here. The salsa and chips are great; the guacamole--either freshly made or what can be purchased as a side--is delicious; I have had the Los Cabos, a lunch serving of chicken chimichanga, and the pollo verde tacos (forgive me as I cannot remember the full name) so far and all have been great! The first two come with a small 'salad' including a portion of guacamole but the pollo verde tacos come with sliced avocados inside. Is it sad that the first time I saw this I was shocked because that has NEVER happened at Dos Reales (at least in any of the entrees I've tried over the last 10 or so years)? This restaurant can also serve different hankerings for Mexican food. For example, my husband had a torta today that he really enjoyed, but last week (yeah, we come here a lot) he got the chile bianco, which had a light almost sweet sauce. So there's an array of tasty options to choose from. Now go, eat at Cocina Real!
