With the rising prices of hotel chains in Pittsburgh it was nice to be able to find a place like Shadyside Inn. The Inn is an old Apartment building converted into hotel suites. It still has all of the qualities of apartment living, such as a fully stocked kitchen, living/dining rooms, and bedrooms with a hotel vibe like guest services and housekeeping. It's located on 5th Ave right by the college with shopping on Walnut St. just two blocks away, and a ten minute drive to downtown. Great safe location!
Upon your arrival they greet you with a goody bag full of candies, muffins from Paddy Cakes in Bloomfield, rice Krispy treats, juice, and crackers! What a nice touch! We arrived two hours before check in and they were kind enough to get us in early. The girls at the front desk were very nice and helpful. They even checked on us after we got settled in to see how we liked the room.
Our suite was nice and roomy. It could've used a little more loving when it came to the cleaning and remodeling but still much better than staying in a cramped hotel room with three other people. You get one parking pass per room. You can normally buy another pass but they were sold out due to the Notre Dame Pitt game. There's a parking garage about five minutes away off of Walnut St. that we parked the other car for the weekend at $11 per day. There's a complimentary shuttle that will drive you anywhere in a 3 mile radius. It runs until 10:00pm I believe.
Overall a wonderful experience and would stay again. Can't beat the price or the location!
