I visited the Thornhill Pub prior to opening a number of weeks ago and I must say I was very impressed with the interior buildout, ample parking, and the huge patio. Having been a Thornhill resident for 25 plus years in close proximity to this future pub location I felt strongly that they had the opportunity to be a huge success given the wealthy entrepreneurs living in the Thornhill area who are used to eating out alot. I planned on visiting the pub this coming thursday for a business lunch but having read the reviews posted took a " time out". I have owned a restaurant & a very successful fine dining/catering operation and know the importance of service. It seems based on the reviews that the owners should have hired someone to train the staff OR poached popular staff from bars in areas similar demographically to Thornhill. The menu in my mind should have been burgers similar to what you get at a place like Burger Priest at Yonge & Lawrence ( my area) and the chicken wings should have been better than what you would get at Buffalo Wings ( in Buffalo). I hope the owners or investors are reading my posting from someone who has not yet visited because if these reviews continue then they will be out of business in 18 months. Thornhill is a high average family income area but they demand quality & service, par excellence even in an informal setting. My suggestion based on the negative food reviews is to take your Chefs and kitchen staff and go and visit all the hospitality establishments in Ontario that do the best " of one item" and then take 12 of those items and add them to the menu. Then call Dufflet Rosenberg for your desserts. Failing what I have just said I believe in giving every establishment 3 chances so I will be coming to Thornhill Pub.
