Hired to do a chimney sweep. Showed up and looked up chimney with flashlight. He told me I have $2,000 worth of repairs needed off the top of his head, and likely $4,000 after he looks at the roof. How can he know I need $2,000 of upper chimeny work without even going up to see it first? But he wouldn't quote me any price to fix it because he "doesn't mix buisnees with pleasure". I have no idea what that is supposed to mean he didn't give a quote and wouldn't clean it. He apparently has a "safety first" policy that he uses as a shield to scam people. He said I owe him $59 for his "inspection" though. Even though he did nothing and quoted nothing. He doesn't want the work. He just wants your $59 dollars for a house call. The thosands of dollars is a line he uses to scare you off and avoid doing any work while he's there. Scam artist. I went with another chimney company that took care of the problem without using scare tactics to get an easy $59 pay day.
