Visited this place in the first week it was open and got to have dinner with some good friends from church. The food was good and fresh, and the service was average. Really enjoyed chatting with the general manager about his visions for the place (This restaurant is his second - first was in Davidson - and the chef he hired is from San Francisco). Food we tried was as follows: (Starter) Spreads Trio [$12.00] - Hummus, an eggplant spread, and a white sauce with some pita and rustic breads. Good taste to all the spreads, but amount of bread was lacking AND they charged us $2 for extra bread (without telling us!). (Meat) Mountain Trout [16.50 per 8 oz] - Well cooked except for the blackened skin which just tasted burnt. Good-size portion for three. (Meat) Chicken [$17.00 for whole] - Nice and tender, and quite large (we took half home). Tasty - not quite Viva Chicken good, but solid. (Veggies) Sautéed Greens & Brussel Sprouts [$7.00 each] - Nicely done, though a bit more oily than expected. Overall, we had a good experience and would return. Total bill for three was $70.36 (no alcohol, before tip). Solid food a bit overpriced, but a nice addition to East. Patio looks awesome for warmer weather!
