I took my sick three-year-old boy here on a weekday evening and we were virtually the only people in the waiting room, so the wait time was extremely short. The people behind the check-in desk were kind and helpful. I was impressed with the facilities, as they were very clean and child-friendly. I was satisfied with the medical care that my child received and with the medical staff (nurses and x-ray techs). I was incredibly unimpressed with DR. LALITHA RAVI, the attending physician though. My little guy has a special love for Disney princesses and as such, brought mini Belle and Cinderella dolls with him for comfort. He was clutching one in each hand the entire time that we were there. I was shocked when Dr. Ravi asked my child "why are we playing with princesses?" She then proceeded to tell him that it was "odd" when he said that he likes princesses. If this had been a typical urgent care, I would not have been as surprised, but she is a PEDIATRICIAN and it is not that unusual for boys to play with traditionally girly things. Even if it was, it was inappropriate and unnecessary to tell my child this. If it were truly an issue (which it is not), I would expect Dr. Ravi to discuss it with me privately. Little souls are sensitive and Dr. Ravi should know better. Bottom line- telling a sick child (or any child) that they are "odd" is cruel and this interaction totally tainted what was otherwise a good experience at PCH urgent care.
