I recently relocated to the Las Vegas area. I was provided housing for the first month of my time here, so I had time to do my due diligence when looking for a permanent place to call home. After about three weeks of daily tours of houses, condominiums, townhouses and apartments, in all areas of the Las Vegas Valley, I settled on Chateau Calais. Here is why: Location - I started my seemingly endless search in Summerlin. Ovation, the company which built and owns Chateau Calais, manages countless properties on the Valley. They have a wide variety in their portfolio, from communities that are going on 20 years old, to communities that have yet to open, as well as opportunities to suit each budget. After looking at about 10 communities in Summerlin, I moved on to Henderson, and finally making my way to Anthem and Seven Hills, where you'll find Chateau Calais. It is central to everything you will ever need. I have no reason to go more than two miles from home. Restaurants, shopping centers, entertainment districts, everything is at your doorstep - most within walking distance, if that is your thing. The strip is 12 minutes of all freeway driving (I don't twice a day for my commute, haven't hit traffic yet) and 7 minutes from the airport. Red Rock Canyon is 30 minutes west if you need to escape the city, and all areas of the valley are easily accessible. Coming from Florida, I already miss landscaping and grass. The true neighborhood feel that anthem provides is only enhanced by the vast amounts of trees and landscaping. (Chateau Calais does a fantastic job with their own landscaping!) Onto the apartment and community itself... The Apartment - I use that term loosely because this definitely feels more like a condo or a townhouse. I have two bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor zenith about 1300 Sq ft of living space, give or take. Perk #1 of Chateau Calais is the amount of apartments with attached garages with a private entry. They're everywhere. I have a two car garage with a private entrance to an indoor, carpeted staircase that leads up to my second floor home. It's comforting! The garage is also useful for extra storage as well as keeping my car out of the sun's way come summer (it is the desert after all). The high vaulted ceilings make the apartment seem even larger than its already generous size, and the large windows provide an ample amount of natural light throughout. Full size laundry room, hard flooring in kitchen and bathrooms, large, open kitchen with granite counter tops, track lighting and large walk in closets are all added benefits. This community was built in the early 2000's, but you wouldn't know it. Their fantastic maintenance team (more on them later) keep the homes and amenities in tip top shape, and management (also more on them later) go through each home with a fine tooth comb to ensure everything is as it should be for your arrival. Their goal is to make if feel like you are moving into a brand new space, and in my experience they delivered. The amenities are fantastic. Green grass, ample walkways, pet stations, a fantastic resort style pool and pool deck, cabanas, hot tub, stylish and we'll appointed club house, and fully equipped gym are all perks of living here. Finally, on to the management.. Management - As I said above, I did my due diligence online as well as in person. I read the few negative reviews regarding the management team here at Chateau Calais, but decided to keep am open mind. I'm glad I did. Frankly, I'd like to speak with those who have had what they perceive as a negative experience, and ask them why they feel that way. I can't say how isolated those experiences are. I have lived all over the world, and through 3 months here, I can say without reservation or hesitation that Desiree and her team are some of the most friendly, dedicated, hard working people I have ever met. I peppered them with questions, comments, and changes to my needs, and they provided impeccable service every single time. The closing process was simple, organized, and actually a pleasant experience. Even after I was committed and my contract was signed, now almost three months down the road, they are there for whatever you could possibly need, and genuinely care about their residents and their well being. I am (ashamed to say) rather picky, and while the only maintenance calls I've had to make have been cosmetic, they are always prompt and happy to assist with anything you may feel is out of place---even if it isn't. The maintenance team is just as friendly and professional, and are well trained. The office team plans and executes special events for the residents, from mixers to garage sales, and make it a point to know everyone personally. Whatever your name is, they will know it and greet you with it. In closing, I cannot recommend Chateau Calais enough. You will feel at home from the moment you arrive, and in this town, smart money says you won't want to leave.
