I came to Angles Strathcona for the first time as my hairdresser of four years had moved locations. Let me preface this by saying, not all Angles salons are made equal and this location, by far, had a very professional yet laid back essence, and is a salon I will continue to visit as long as my hairdresser still works there :)
SHOUT OUT TO FRAZER. Frazer Voloshin is a freaking master of cuts and colours. I've never been disappointed in his cuts. In fact, I've never received more compliments on my hair than when I've had him even grace my locks with his scissors for a trim. If you can get in to see him, you will not be disappointed. He is incredibly thorough and just makes your hair absolute perfection. Hence the reason I still follow him even though the salon is like a half an hour drive from where I live. He's engaging and funny to talk to, the silent parts of the cut are never awkward. Conversation comes easy and he actually cares about chatting with you instead of making small talk.
On another note... the location is absolutely beautiful. From the exterior to the interior, everything feels very welcoming and bright. I ADORE the bright turquoise walls throughout, the decor is simple but clean and elegant. It's very spacious and airy, it didn't smell like chemicals as some salons do - just clean and like luxury hair products haha. The girls at the front were absolutely divine - so friendly and accommodating. While I waited I could hear them chatting at the front - no gossip or trash talk, no swearing or vulgarities. Everyone was dressed casually but classy... I didn't feel "out of place," but I felt like everyone working there really cared about their job and making the customer happy. I spoke to several employees while there and everyone was friendly and smiling. It was a dream!!
Sometimes the music at salons can be... distasteful or annoying. Whatever they were playing was intriguing to listen to and really fit the vibe of the atmosphere they present at Angles Strathcona.
Additionally, they have a stupendous online booking system. It was so convenient for me to just book in with Frazer instead of calling and having to almost barter my appointment time haha. Can more salons please get electronic booking systems pls? Oh wait, I don't need another salon... I'm sticking with Angles Strathcona indefinitely.
I cannot recommend this location enough (or Frazer) for that matter. Such an excellent location and atmosphere - I will definitely continue to pay the steeper price tag (~$74 before tip for wash, cut and style) for the outstanding customer service, divine decor, and kick butt hair cuts! Keep it classy, Angles Strathcona!!
