Wow. Once of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. So happy I got to check this place off my list!
The weather was actually tolerable out last night so we opted to eat outside, which I honestly preferred since it is so dark inside the actual restaurant. Our server, Kate was amazing. She was knowledgeable and quirky and gave great recommendations. To drink, my bf ordered a Negra Modelo and I ordered the watermelon basil mojito. It was delicious and also quite strong! Maybe it was because I had skipped lunch that day but man it hit me fast! We started with some chips and salsa and an order of grilled street corn cut off the cob. Street corn is one of the foods that I can't resist and can be a make or break for me with Mexican restaurants. The Mission's take on it was fantastic! I can't emphasize enough how fresh the corn was. So delicious!
For our entree we split the pork shoulder tacos since an order serves 2 along with a side of white bean puree per Kate's recommendation. The meal comes deconstructed with a large serving of pork shoulder, a side of red onions, cilantro, cotija cheese and a pineapple habanero glaze with 10 small tortillas served on a Himalayan salt rock. The pork shoulder was some of the best I've had and the pineapple habanero glaze provided the perfect balance of sweet and savory.
Keep in mind when coming here that it is on the pricey side, especially compared to the portion sizes you receive. The portions are definitely on the smaller side, but as far as quality goes, you get what you pay for.
