I can't believe how many times I have been to Las Vegas and never went here. I love to be able to look at history and the neon museum doesn't disappoint. The tour was very interesting and informative, not just about local history, but also the evolution of lighted neon signs and how they work. Most of the signs do not light up, as it takes several thousand dollars to restore just one sign. However, they are lit externally in artful ways (I took the night tour). The photo opportunities are endless! Bundle up if you do the night tour in winter, and maybe even bring a hat, because it will get surprisingly cold. I would also recommend arriving at least fifteen minutes prior to your scheduled tour to wander the lobby/gift shop. Many of the items have small placards next to them giving another tiny history lesson, and there is also an interactive screen with even more information. The museum is also easy to find and only a few minutes from downtown. It's definitely something off the beaten path worth checking out in Las Vegas.
