Stephen's has been around for as long as I can remember. I finally tried it after a recommendation from my former stylist in Shadyside (the drive to Shadyside for cuts and highlights was too difficult).
I made an appointment and was randomly assigned to Kat, who I have stuck with ever since. She does a great job with my color and cuts - I never have any complaints about either. I usually try for the first appointment of the day because afternoon appointments are often running behind.
I think your mileage may vary depending on the stylist. I had to see another stylist once because I really need a cut before an event and Kat was off. The stylist (name forgotten) was unpleasant and the highlights and cut were not up to snuff with Kat. The following visit, I returned to Kat and when she looked at my cut, she knew it wasn't right.
The prices are a bit high, but I don't mind because I am happy with the service I receive.
