Most stressful experience of my adult life. I wrote a check for $65k for a Porsche with a lien held by Credit Union 1. Standing at the counter, I very clearly asked the next steps. They said the title was held in Chicago, the lien would be cleared and the title sent to me.
The title was actually still in the name of two owners ago (TN) and in the hands of the most recent owner (NV). It took more than a month to clear up; interest and insurance cost me another $500 while waiting.
Nice enough people, but it took more than a month to clear up. Very stressful with my $65k hanging out there.
