Can you believe this place is thriving in the city of Las Vegas?! Right in the middle of the desert, you can come and visit this charming orchard. :] My siblings and I were feeling adventurous and wanted to go exploring around Vegas' hidden spots. While looking up different farmers markets on Yelp, we found this place. Judging by the photos, you wouldn't think its location would be where it is. The season calls for roaming around pumpkin patches and finding fresh veggies. Make sure to be wearing comfortable shoes when you go! This place is huge! And your shoes will get dirty and be a different color by the time you leave. A lot of people brought wagons to help carry all their findings. Next to the main Gilcrease Orchard sign is where the line starts for the free hayride. It takes you around the entire orchard and the person driving it is your tour guide, as he explains the history of the orchard and what they offer. Don't be afraid to hop on! It holds a lot of people and it has a canopy, so at least some of the sunshine will be blocked. lol As for the little ones, walk them around the hen houses and the glass enclosed beehive. They're right next to each other and it's just a lil down the way from where the hayride's line is. They even have a mini owl habitat, which you'll pass by if you go on the hayride. This orchard is not way out in the boonies so finding it shouldn't be a problem. It's well within the city limits. But like I said earlier, you wouldn't expect it to be! Parking can be a hassle. Especially if you go on a busy day. So plan ahead. You might have to park pretty far. As for the restrooms, they're all portable potties. If you have a hard time with that, plan ahead for that too. There was a really long line to try some of the food and I'm not really sure what everyone was waiting for. But the line was way too long to wait. We went on a pretty hot day in October and there is no shade ANYWHERE. Even the seating area next to this food stand didn't have any shading. We told ourselves we'll try it next time. Whatever it is. lol To wrap this all up, go and visit this place. Take a mini adventure here because.. come on... this is Vegas and who would have thunk this place exists where it does. :p
