We've been buying tires for both of our cars at Firestone for a few years now. I had one questionable experience earlier which I won't touch on but the result was purchasing four new tires. Recently, on our other car, I started to notice a slow leak on one of the tires, so I swung by with no appointment to see if I could get it repaired. I was told it would be an hour, which I didn't have the time for that day. No problem, I made an appointment for a repair later that week. I work from home, so I made sure to give myself ample time to have the repair done. I dropped it off a few minutes early, talked to the clerk briefly, then walked to lunch. I came back an hour later and my car was still untouched. I asked about it, and they assured me that my car was up next. A little annoyed, but still had plenty of time. After about 30 minutes my car was in the garage. 30 minutes later....nothing. Most of the time I was the only one in the waiting area, but at this point the clerk was helping someone else, and now I was running out of time (I had a customer meeting that I could not be late for). When he was finally done I asked about my car, and the response was something along the lines of, 'Oh yeah. You have two nails 4 inches apart so the tire is not repairable.' I immediately asked for my car back and left, not having time to deal with it at this point. Not enamored by the prospect of buying another four tires (or a pair, at least), I took the car to two more places for a 2nd opinion. Neither found two nails, only one. I had the tire repaired for 20 bucks and have had no issues. I could deal with time issues (we're all busy, I get it), but if it was going to be an issue I would have appreciated a heads up. What prompted me to write the review was the nail issue. I felt that this was dishonest and a ploy to force me to buy tires. It could have been an honest mistake, but the whole experience will keep me from Firestone in the future.
