This place has a lot going for it. Its not pretentious, its creative when it comes to pub fare, and the prices are affordable with gut busting servings that send you groaning with delight. But this place also has two HUGE issues. I don't know what Pub some of the reviewers were in...but the Court Jester I pop into from time to time always disappoints me with a rude host/bartender/waiter who always seems impatient and personally put-out by any special request like " can I get that on the side" OR "can I substitute a salad for the fries". Honestly, the guy's a bit of a jerk. Sorry, but he is. He "acts" polite but the distain in his voice is palpable. Secondly, they are slower than the second coming of Christ Almighty himself. I always tell myself its because its soooo fresh...but when I pop into a pub for a bite during my lunch break, I expect to get the food, especially from the specials menu, within 15-20 mins. Especially when there's only two or three other tables on the go. Instead I wait no less than 30 minutes almost every time. I guess its because i asked for my salad dressing on the side...I know how that pisses the guy off. :) Seriously, give it a try if intrigued. The food is pretty tasty and like I said, its not bland run of the mill pub food. They're creative...but give yourself lots of time. I think the cook in the back is probably as self important as the bartender. He's an artist. Good food takes time...whatever.
